I can't even count how many tattoos I have gotten at Martian Arts! Why do I keep coming back? Because the people are amazing. Joanne and Jerry have been so good to me and have made excellent custom pieces that turned out beautifully. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Great place I accidentally stopped by to get a quick, simple tattoo. Amanda Pea did a great job making me feel comfortable. I plan to come back for more here in the future. The building is fun and colorful, being an awesome spot to get my first Portland tattoo :)

I went to Martian based on a beautiful Detective Pikachu tattoo I saw from a guy who came into my job. Paul did my buddy's and my tattoos on a walk-in, and he did a phenomenal job! Great guy to talk to, and just all in all, a chill dude. Definitely recommend these guys.

I thought it was going to be better, considering how simple my tattoos were. My tattoos are smudgy and shouldn't be, it was line work of written words, and they look out of place with my other tattoos (also line work/words) because the ink has bled. I got two pieces, the second one doesn't look like the picture or the stencil. The artist was careless, spent more time trying to chat with me and the other artist working. Very disappointed in their work, would not return, would not recommend.

Me and my friend both came in from out of town and got our tattoos done with the same guy, he was very nice, BUT my tattoo has gaps where lines are supposed to connect and my friends tattoo came out ridiculously faded for what she paid. I recommend this tattoo shop because they have a good vibe going on but ask for one of the ladies instead.

Price: not just reasonable, but really low for what I got.
Personality: both clay and the other tattoo artist were incredibly friendly. Clay (@clayharpole on ig) is a gentleman tattooist. Light handed and incredibly detail oriented. I put him through the ringer with redesign after redesign. He gave me feedback. And listened. And was incredibly patient throughout the entire process. I'm relatively new to tattoos (three) and his attitude helped me feel really comfortable. When we were done he gave me the clearest instructions for aftercare and when he learned I was flying hooked me up with a special patch for the art.

Be flying back out to have more work done by him. Add to that how quick he did it (less than an hour) and you have the mix for a one of a kind artist. I've had other artists tattoo on me and he absolutely beats them all.
Area: the area itself has a bunch to do. Thrift shop. Solid coffee spots. Blue star donuts down the street. So if friends are coming with they won't be bored.

Had the pleasure of getting a tattoo from the owner, Joanne, today. She was exceedingly patient and kind throughout the entire process. The tattoo turned out even better than I could have imagined. However, (due to my negligence and the spontaneity of the idea), I accidentally gave her the wrong Roman numerals for my tattoo. After I had figured this out she even offered to help fix it/find a solution free of charge. Either way it turned out beautiful and makes for a good story I suppose?😅

Gabe took a design a brought, retouched it and brought it together the way i wanted it, and put it on me super quick and the tattoo is perfect! Super happy with the experience and the result! Would recommend for people who want a skilled artist who can get your own idea realized!
