The Mercy Seat

I fully recommend Dayton Skuse. He is my new found ink master artist that expertly performed a "get what you get" tattoo on my abdomen. Dayton did a truely amazing job and made my 1st time @ Mercy Seat incredibly fun. He had a very soft touch for such a tender spot. He worked smooth and efficiently. His vibe is absolutely enjoyable! I have experienced many artists over the years and Dayton has made my top 3 favorite!!! I can't wait for my next piece! Thanks a million, Dayton, for a beautiful memory I can cherish until my death🤪

Came in for a small tattoo with my sister. We originally had 4 of us scheduled and two people in our group bailed and he was super understanding. There was a little bit of a wait but nothing ridiculous. I can’t remember his name but the guy was super nice!

I do not recommend this place for any first-time-tattoo people. My family went to get tattoos here, three out of the four of us were getting out first. The customer service was terrible, the lady booking the appointments was rude, kept cutting us off, and wouldn’t listen. The artist himself was nice, but seemed irritated when my brother showed any pain to the point my brother decided to just be done. My mother was so unhappy with her tattoo. Since they only allowed one person in at time, she scheduled her appointment with another artist so we could be together. The artist didn’t listen, and booked another appointment over hers. He didn’t color her tattoo and tried get her to schedule another appointment instead of just finishing it. I decided my first tattoo experience wasn’t going to be miserable and cancelled my appointment. At least they gave me back my deposit.

Got me in on short notice on a Sunday afternoon. Clean & sterile place. Dana was my tattoo artist...she did a great job of copying my Dad's handwriting, as I wanted "daddy-o" tattooed on my wrist...that's my nick name for him. He's terminal ly ill with pancreatic cancer...wanted to be able to show it to him. I could tell he liked it...because smiled while tears were running down his cheeks.

Kevin did an amazing job. His work healed fast and very nicely. Can't wait to go back to get more done

Kris does very solid work, highly recommend coming here. The atmosphere is what you'd want from a tattoo shop, and they seem to have a wide range of very talented artists.

I wanted to love this place, but Wesley is a strange guy. He started my tattoo and did a decent job with it, but I made the mistake of tipping after the first session instead of after the free touch up. Needless to say, he never did the touch up. He just kept saying that he was on his way to the studio and he would get back to me about his schedule, and then I wouldn't hear back from him. I followed up every few weeks for well over a year and every single time he would say this until I eventually gave up. So now I have a partially completed tattoo, and whenever it's warm I try to still wear long sleeves or to fix the asymmetrical shading and weak lines with a pen so it's less embarrassing... I tried asking Mercy Seat if another artist could finish it, but they said that I had to stick to the same artist, and they didn't seem to have anything to say about the impossibility of getting it done with him. It was a confusing experience since I tipped around 35% on a very expensive tattoo. And now if I could use emoticons in this review, this is where I'd insert a shrug emoticon. Learn from my mistake and don't tip until after the touch up, I guess.

The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. My best friend and I were just walk-in tourists and they fit us in without any complaints. Brock did both of our tattoos. He was very friendly and easy to work with. It was my friends first tattoo and he explained everything to her and made sure she was comfortable. We both love our tattoos, they're exactly what we wanted.

Couple of friends and I had an urge to get tattoos after we ate lunch so did a Google search for shops near us and called. There was limited waiting from the design process to actually being on a table getting the ink. Extremely clean and above and beyond sanitary procedures to protect everyone. Skyler was my artist and did a great job placing my tattoo and completing it. Highly recommend !

The staff here was so amazing. I haven't been to mercy seat in a few years and it's still the amazing place I remember. Was tattooed by dayton with my best friend. He did absolutely amazing and his work was clean. The shop is very clean. We were walk ins from out of town and got in right away. If we ever come back to Kansas city I would come back for sure. The pictures are from right after being tattooed and the together one a few hours later.
