Lilac Tattoo Studio

My Tattoo artist Nini was so cool, she was super nice and helpful. She also didn't mind me and my friend making changes to the design over and over, their definitely gonna be a tattoo shop I go back to!

Stopped by to grab a gift card for my daughter's birthday. The ladies were very nice and the place looks awesome. My daughter's looking forward to her 1st nose piercing.

I got my nostril pierced and it was such a quick and easy going experience. I was nervous at first, but Leydi was calm and patient with me which also helped. She checked to make sure I liked the location prior to her proceeding. She was gentle with my piercing and provided me with all of the after care instructions. The atmosphere was amazing! We were greeted by Brooklyn as soon as we walked in - super sweet and energetic! Everyone was nice, professional, and a total vibe! I loved it and the sense of Women Empowerment!

I recommend for anyone visiting to do your research. Make sure you call and ask questions so you know what to expect during and for your your service. They also have a FAQ section on their website. All was very helpful for me because I also knew that I was going to need an appointment ahead of time. Leydi books up fast, and I’m sure the tattoo artist are the same.
For tattoos (I didn’t get one, but read some info on it): Be sure to go to their website for info/ social media to see when their available for walk in’s (for smaller tattoos). For larger tattoos you’ll need an appointment, and their is a minimum. So do your research FIRST!

This establish is very organized. You can tell they want the keep things running smoothly. I appreciate their efforts, and the appointment setting being that I have a pretty hefty drive to Dallas. Making sure that I have an allotted time slot is key for someone like me, or anyone that’s not centrally located. It was a great experience! I enjoyed every bit of my service and the atmosphere! I’ll definitely be back!

I've heard a lot about Lilac Tattoo Studio and was excited to get work done there.

I got a small flash tattoo done with two of my friends and by that time, I had already reached out to one of the artists at the shop to plan a large custom piece. Unfortunately, my experience left me disappointed and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable returning to this studio for tattoos in the future.

An apprentice at the shop did our tattoos. I've never been worried about going to an apprentice before as my experiences getting work done by apprentices have been positive so far.

There were several red flags I noticed:

- My tattoo artist did not have their table wrapped or even draped with a paper sheet. My friend had his tattoo done before I did and the table was not cleaned in between clients.

- The rolling cart my tattoo artist used to hold supplies, including the bottles they used to clean tattoos when finished, was not wrapped either. There were open and messy ink bottles in the cart.

- My tattoo artist did wear gloves, but used the same pair of gloves to rearrange the tattoo space, including the table they asked me to lie on, and did not change the gloves before tattooing me. I watched them touch the bottles in their space and many other things that they had touched while actively tattooing my friend before tattooing me, then go back to touching my in-progress tattoo with the same gloves. The area the tattoo took place in is open and I can say for sure that these surfaces and items were not sanitized between clients.

- The area I was getting tattooed was not cleaned before applying the stencil or beginning the tattoo.

- None of the people working in the shop were wearing masks. I know the mask mandate has been lifted for Dallas, but this is still quite unusual based on my own experiences in tattoo studios during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On top of these concerns, the tattoos my friend and I received varied drastically - there were missing components in my friend's tattoo that I had in mine and various inconsistencies I would not expect with flash, considering we had the exact same design on each of our stencils. Of course, every flash tattoo will look different but that doesn't explain the parts of the tattoo that are just simply missing.

For me, health and safety are super important when it comes to getting any type of body work done. Even though my tattoo is cute and seems to be healing well so far, I honestly feel like I should have left the shop when I saw these red flags before it was my turn to get tattooed.

As a tip for anyone looking to get on the walk-in list, definitely arrive early and plan to stay within 10 minutes of their studio. I'm thankful that the studio was accommodating when I was a few minutes late arriving after they let me know it was my turn - traffic is tough in this area so be sure to plan ahead.

I applaud Lilac Tattoo Studios for their vision and I hope that the constructive criticism I provide here will help them to grow.

Edit 1 May 2022: after posting this review, I emailed the shop as they asked. They offered to refund the tattoo and fix it for free, but asked me to remove the review. I was honest and said I didn’t feel comfortable removing the review and wasn’t sure if I wanted to come back, but they were kind enough to honor the offer they made for a refund. I appreciate the gesture and I hope they can continue to improve.

Claire-Louise put three tooth gems in for me yesterday and it was a great experience! She double checked with me the placement for all gems, each step of the way she explained to me what she was doing, and upon ending our appointment she gave me a great aftercare package filled with tools to take care of my gems, business cards, and cards with FAQs for tooth gem care! She was very lovely and professional and I will definitely be back.

I went to their flash sale a few weeks ago and let me tell you. It was out of this world! The energy of this place is amazing! Everyone was so kind and patient. I wish I could've gotten my first tattoo here! Sam was amazing! Such a great person to be around. Not to mention Skai!!! She told my friend she could help him cover his self harm scars. The tattoo quality itself is amazing.!!!! My friend is dark complected and I'm pale as hell. We both got equally pigmented tattoos that healed gorgeous!!! He probably won't let anyone but Skai tattoo color on him.

My mom and I went in to get matching tattoos and we were blown away by the amazing service everyone at Lilac provided. We felt extremely comfortable being there and loved the place. Maddy took care of our tattoos and was absolutely wonderful. Extremely professional and overall a great person. I will definitely be back for more tattoos and piercings in the future.

They were very friendly and professional people. I highly recommend them for piercings! I got my septum pierced and had no issues at all. They talked me through the entire process and I felt very safe and comfortable. And it was super quick. I had a hard time hearing because the music was a little loud, but I always have a hard time hearing in a normal environment as it is. Lol. Gonna continue going here for my piercing (and eventually tattoo) needs!
