Melissa was extremely kind and professional! I went in for a tragus (ear) piercing and she made the whole process as stress free as possible. She explained the whole process step by step from start to finish. I was a little nervous and she didn’t pressure me she went at my pace! Thanks Melissa! I highly recommend you!

I have never left a review in my life for a business and it pains me to have to do this for a business as a whole for an experience with one artist who works here. The issue begins with my fault for being late to a consultation and for this I take full responsibility. I drove 1 hour for this consultation and encountered a few traffic issues along the way. I knew I was going to be moderately late so I attempted to call but the call went to voicemail. I could not contact the artist personally due to the fact that I only had his email. When I arrived I had a hard time finding the shop while using my GPS and parking. Once I arrived inside the shop there was no front desk so I had to find an employee and ask what to do. Once I finally found an available person they told me to read the poster outside of the door which states to “wait in the lobby and call the shop when you are here” so I called and received no answer again. I waited for awhile before another customer came in and a polite lady guided me to where the artist I was supposed to be meeting was waiting. Before I could even apologize or even introduce myself the first thing out of the artist mouth was “you’re late”. I tried to explain myself and apologize and move on to the point of consult. The consultation was for a tattoo cover up idea that resulted in my opinion, no progress. I did not really receive any suggestions or substance to the consultation in general. I, not being a professional, wasn’t sure what to ask or say and the artist did not seem to have much to offer either. He was more interested in continuing to lecture me about being late. He told me if I’m going to be late again that I need to let him know because that is the common curtesy. He pointed out that he only showed up to meet with me that day. I tried to explain to him that I drove an hour and that things that were out of my control caused my punctuality flaw. I also informed him that I attempted to contact the shop and that was unsuccessful. He still seemed very put out and annoyed with me. As a human being and a female I felt uncomfortable, unwelcome, and self conscious. I never intended to insult this artist integrity but I do not feel I deserved the full on lecture I received in return. For this I will not return. For anyone who reads this I will add that there are probably plenty of other professional artists here but this is for awareness.

I got my new beautiful tattoo with Kate this weekend while in Asheville. I loved the studio and my artist. Kate could tell I was uncomfortable during my work and did everything she could to make my experience better. Kate was also very responsive over email during the design of my new tattoo. Clearly the artists at Zen Ink really care about their work and their clients. Would recommend.

Melissa pierced my little girl’s ears. She was warm, friendly, and patient. The total experience was great. Zen Ink was professional and clean. Thank you Melissa for taking such care!

I had the opportunity to experience a tattoo by River Dawn. She is deeply intuitive, artistically gifted and has a great vision (and hand) for detail and beauty.

My tattoo is amazing. I have receied so many wows on her hawk feather pointillism tattoo. It looks incredibly realistic. I am impressed with her skill and artistry and look forward to my next tattoo.

Best experience I’ve had getting a tattoo, hands down. From the moment I walked in I felt at ease, and I love how they let you hold their crystals while getting tattooed, to help ground and calm you! Best tattoo shop hands down! I've gotten tattoos from Ariel, Sierra and Katie - they're all amazing artists. I've always felt comfortable and we'll taken care of here. Can't wait to get more work done from the supremely talented artists here!

We came in after the store was closed because we were interested in Henna, but we knew it was a long shot. River came out and was totally awesome, not only did she still give us both henna but she was extremely friendly and even educated us about the background and history of the process. I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in henna. OR a tattoo! I would love to go back to see River! THANKS!

Payne did a fantastic with my and my partners tattoo. We love them so much. Payne was great to talk with, and is an amazing artist with an eye for detail. We will be back.
