I’ve gotten all of my tattoos at this shop and continue to be impressed and happy with every piece. Raymond is an incredible artist as well as a good person to chat with. Extremely happy with this shop and plan to get many more works here.

Visiting Salem for the day and walked in for a small tattoo. They were quick to get back to me about the appointment and did an excellent job! Raymond thoroughly explained how the sizing and placement of the tattoo would affect the way that it looks. Very happy with the way it came out :)

I have NEVER heard of a tattoo shop charging this much. My partner went to get a SMALL (maybe 2 inches) black spider. No shading or color at all and they tried charging him $180. We obviously walked out. I was going to get a witch hat, god knows how much they would have charged me for that. It's a shop that takes advantage of tourists. Don't go here.

An edit because I just saw how unprofessional the owner is when they reply to negative reviews: we all called around after we left to other shops. This is not a normal price for the area. Don't let them lie to you.

I've gotten tattoos all over the country (in major cities) and have never heard of a price this high for such a SIMPLE tattoo. Unless of course the artist is literally famous which these artists are obviously not. Even with "covid related costs" they're not this expensive.

Do not go here. They will overcharge you. Now the owner can go ahead and reply to this with an unprofessional and rude comment.

Edit:

Eyyyyy! There it is, thanks for being predictable with that reply buddy 😚 apparently I'm a Karen for calling them out on taking advantage of tourists. And again, I called around. Whatever they're saying about the going hourly rate in Salem is a lie. Another shop just down the street from them didn't charge that much! Don't let them steal from you, be smart!

My first time ever getting a tattoo. Was very impressed how clean the shop was and how nice everyone was. Kat is an incredible artists and so nice. She really made my first experience a joy. I would go back to Salem ink and Kat anytime.

Loki (owner/artist) was amazingly courteous and professional. The prices were fair and they went above and beyond to make us comfortable and worked around us.

The entire studio/staff were helpful and kind and it just solidifies what a great business this is.

My girlfriend of five years and I both got ghost tattoos to remember our trip to Salem. Both Eduardo and Loki were awesome and we love our tattoos. Highly recommend!

I checked out several artists and studios before selecting Salem Ink, and I am very happy with my choice. I worked with Matt whose work is detailed and precise. Check out his portraits of Lovecraft, Poe, and the “goat” (you’ll know it when you see it). I appreciate the tasteful and clean setting as well as the shop’s easy access to all-day parking and restaurants. My tattoo is very detailed (and it’s just an outline right now; going back for color later) and looks great. Aftercare instructions are easy to follow and cover all the important things you need to know without trying to sell you expensive, special products like other shops do.

On a trip to Salem and came across this location, it was great that they welcomed walk ins and I worked with Loki on my tattoo. Excellent conversation and the tat came out exactly how I envisioned. It didn’t even hurt! Definitely recommend this place and ask for Loki he’s a gem.

as I sit here and wait for my daughter to finish her piece, I wanted to write a review. First off, let me set the scene.

while visiting Salem to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday, I decided what better way than to each get tattoos! Fun, right? So I did some searching and found Salem Ink. It was later at night so I sent an email asking if they took walk ins. we are in a pandemic after all. I woke the next morning to a response from the owner, Loki. He said the best thing to do was to be here right away at open as they can fill up fast.

we arrived about 30 minutes after they opened, and got ourselves on the wait list. They asked what we were going to do for oir work. I am a Potterhead, so I just got a simple "always" tattoo. My daughter on the other hand, had a rough sketch of a piece she wanted. Loki took a picture so he could draw them up and have them ready when we were. They quoted that it could be anywhere from a half an Hour to 3 hours. Cool! No problem! So we ran over and did a showing at The Salem Witch Museum. We no sooner finished there and we received a call saying they were ready for us!

upon arrival, my daughter realized she left her ID back at the hotel. I was internally screaming at her! Haha! much as one does at their kids in public. Lol. How could she waste this poor guys time drawing something for her!? So inconsiderate. So I went ahead and got my tattoo. They said we may still be able to get hers after we drive an hour and a half round trip to and from the hotel.

being the mom that I am, I didn't want her to miss out on this Opportunity. So I drove back to Chelsea to the hotel and then back to the shop. Where they were ready for us as soon as we walked in the door!

all through this, Loki was very kind and understanding. He worked with us and never once faltered on his hospitality. He took the fact that this was my daughter's first tattoo and made sure she was comfortable and walked her through the process. I would 10/10 recommended Salem Ink!

I chose this place because they advertise in custom tattoos and for my second tattoo, I had a general idea of what I wanted, but I couldn't get a good picture to show the artist. However, when I met with Heather for the consultation, she knew exactly what I meant when describing the tattoo. She was very nice to work with and took the time to ask many questions about the design to make sure that it will look how I wanted it to. I got a galaxy tattoo, and I expected a simple black and blue design since that was all I could find online, but Heather was able to create a beautiful colorful piece that had many colors that came together nicely. She even seemed to read my mind when she suggested adding a moon to the design. The line work was amazing and the tattoo was better than expected. The studio was nice, clean, and very organized. The only downside to this place is the parking as the area around it has a two hour limit, so be careful when planning sessions. However, I was there for about three hours and my car wasn't towed. Overall, the place is amazing and I will definitely be going there again for future tattoos. Also, the pricing is relatively cheap compared to other studios in the area, so that is always a plus.
