NOTE: THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE RECENT INCORRECT AND NEGATIVE REVIEW LEFT BY ALEX...
I was there getting my tattoo completed as a returning client at Southside Tattoo when Alex and his family were visiting. I'll say this first, this shop has always been completely professional, ethical, and responsible to themselves and those they provide service to. It can be intimidating for most to walk in, however the crew at Southside have always been welcoming, even when this family brought in 4 or more children, ranging from infant to toddler age. Any fellow tattoo enthusiast (as well as the general public) KNOWS that children in the shop is both dangerous and distracting for everyone present. That being said, NO ONE SAID A WORD to the family for the first few 'in and out' visits, even when the infant was crying loudly. Do babies cry, absolutely. Should they be crying in a tattoo shop? Definitely NOT. Even still, no one said a word at that point and kept on focusing on their work for their clients. It wasn't until their last 'pop in' that the older kids started to touch, pull, and attempt to detach the GLASS FLASH off the wall that one of employees decided it was too dangerous for them to be in the shop. Myself and about 5 other people can confirm that he did NOT yell at the child. In fact, he wasn't even speaking towards the children, but the mother who seemed too distracted to even notice her kids being irresponsible. Voices weren't even raised until SHE yelled at the employee, saying "WE ARE PAYING CUSTOMERS! WHERE DO YOU EXPECT US TO GO?!". The common response from about 90% of the public would be 'ANYWHERE BUT A TATTOO SHOP". It is not their responsibility to entertain the family. It's a south Austin location, please visit any other family friendly establishment while you wait. How is this not common sense for everyone? I have two kids myself and would never entertain the idea of bringing kids in for SO MANY REASONS, SAFETY being #1. But I digress..
Mama stormed out while the employee was trying to explain the safety issue, but it was wasted effort. When their family member was done with their tattoo (who AGREED her grandchildren should not be in there), Alex came back in to confront/accuse the employee for yelling at a child. He continued to curse at him and disrespect his effort to keep the kids safe and honestly, from distracting artists from their work. Look around at any tattoo shop and you will see the infamous 'NO MINORS' sign. It's there for a reason. Southside doesn't have this because they are chill as hell, UNTIL there is a liability at stake. Such as, kids getting hurt, cut, infected, blah blah blah.
Longest post ever, but I refuse to allow someone's inability to recognize their own failure in being responsible for their kids by blaming it on someone who acted professionally and ethically. As a parent, I am embarrassed by people like this and won't allow a local business to suffer from their negligence.

Love my one and only tat, by Bart, done this month. It's healed well and is exactly what I wanted, how I wanted it;. A perfect sketch of a cactus nopale, with embroidery needles in place of spines. I could not be more pleased!

Was visiting, had a great experience. Good friendly staff and very professional. 10/10 would recommend.

I got my first tattoo here and the employees came off a little judgemental at first, but once I sat down with Jack and talked through my ideas, he ended up making my experience wonderful. Jack did an amazing job on my complicated fine line tattoo and the linework turned out amazing

Great service and pretty good company too. I was referred to Southside by a friend and I must say they took great care of my sister on her first visit to a tattoo parlor. Her first tattoo was a great experience and I thank them for taking great care of her.

I hardly ever leave reviews. But this place really struck me. I came in asking if they could do a specific piece and they were more than happy to work on it. I forgot to ask for the guy's name but he was a true professional. He even allowed to let my friends to be there at a time. I hardly felt any intense pain. I was a bit nervous but the way it was handled and the professionalism made it better. Will come back again

I went to southside on a day they were busy, the artist asked for my number so he can call when he is free he said I would only take an hour. 6 hrs later I finally gave up. I guess they didn't want my business. I went to aloha tattoo on slaughter lane where everything went smoothly. its a shame bc royce did a few of my tats there and he was pretty awesome, but I don't shop where they don't appreciate me.

Walked in with my family, at least 3 of us were gonna get tatted and the customer service was horrible. We're from out of town and just wanted to get a lil something done. I guess we'll just stick to our normal tattoo guy who can tatt rain or shine, noise or no noise.
Change y'alls name aint nothing Southside about about you guys...more like stuckup!

Variety of great artists with unique styles, all cool guys, very profesional and clean. Sometimes they can be very busy, but it's worth the wait, might want to call ahead of time to see. They do not do piercings.

For my first time I wanted something small but meaningful. I came in without a particular idea & JET was so helpful & helped me find the perfect tattoo. I highly recommend this place
